JOIN US - WE NEED YOUR HELP!
In the past year, on several occasions, we have had insufficient firefighters to fully man one truck, let alone the three that we should be able to supply in the event of a major emergency. It would be terrible if we were unable to respond to an emergency when the necessary equipment is sitting in our two halls, but has no one to operate it.
There are a number of ways in which you can help:
First Responders and Firefighters - Jobs and other pressures take priority, and frequently take our volunteer responders off our island. When this happens they are no longer available for call outs. Our only solution is to recruit and train more volunteer responders. In particular, we are critically short of fully trained First Responders and Firefighters. We have an excellent fire practices and training program, which enables us to keep our competency level of the department at a high.
Board Member - If you feel that you cannot become an active member of the North Galiano Fire Rescue and yet you would still like to help, we have openings on the Board of Directors of the North Galiano Fire Protection Society.
Volunteer for Special Projects - There are a number of special projects that we are involved in...maintenance of facilities, recruitment fairs, and educational programs.
Donate - If you do not have time to give the NGFPS also accepts donations to help support the operations of the North Galiano Fire Rescue.
